After MH101
It’s important to note that unlike MH106 and MH209, psychological studies in MH101 does not lead to a professionally-accredited degree.
When you graduate from MH101, you can apply for an intensive 1-year master’s postgraduate programme to achieve your professionally-accredited psychology qualification. Entry is competitive and places are limited.
Subject Structure
First year
- 15 credits of Psychological Studies
- Choose up to 3 other subjects, which may include Critical Skills, from the groups available (max 1 per group)
Second year and Final year
- Psychological Studies - 30 credits
- Plus continue with 1 other subject from 1st year as part of a Double Major degree. Studying Psychological Studies in MH101 does not lead to a PSI-accredited degree. Further study would be required to attain PSI accreditation.
- Optional 10 credit Elective in second year
- Optional Erasmus/Study Abroad after second year

Entry requirements
Leaving Certificate applicants are required to present (as a minimum): 2H5 & 4O6/H7 and O6/H7 in Irish, English, 3rd language.

Psychological Studies graduates will be eligible to apply for further studies including professionally accredited psychology conversion degrees.
You will have acquired a range of key transferable, analytical and critical skills that will equip you for many roles in many different types of workplaces.
You may wish also to pursue further postgraduate studies in cognate areas of social and behavioural sciences.
