MH101 - Geography
Go to Course - Bachelor Of ArtsOverview
When you study geography at Maynooth University, you develop a rich skillset by asking important questions about the world.
From why climate change is happening to how communities respond to changes in land use – our geography programme teaches you to think ‘big’.
You’ll learn about and analyse a range of issues, from the global climate and ecological crises, to urban and regional economic development and planning.
Field work
You’ll also learn in the field via short (1-day) and longer (5-day) field trips in Ireland and overseas, in places like Lanzarote and Berlin.
The right tools for big challenges
Our lab-based modules bring you into contact with microscopic traces of past climatic periods.
Our computer-based modules give you access to the latest geospatial tools. These reveal the past, current, and future impacts of real challenges like flooding or urbanisation.
As a geography student with us, you’ll learn how to apply geographical research tools and analytical methods to find solutions to the biggest challenges of this century.
Real-world experience
Our engaging lecturers bring their real-world experience into the classroom.
They combine field and lab-based research on biodiversity with investigations into the lives of the people in our communities.
