Overview
This course is intended to introduce graduates in mathematics to current ideas and methods at the forefront of modern mathematical research. The topics vary from year to year but include modules in analysis, algebra and geometry.
Course structure
Duration: 1 year full-time
Students will typically attend at least 10 lectures per week during the regular academic year and give presentations on advanced mathematical topics to the class. During the summer, they will prepare a research project under the guidance of a supervisor.

Careers after your Masters
The material in this programme prepares students to do PhD-level research in mathematics and is also excellent preparation for jobs in a variety of areas, including second-level teaching, the IT sector and finance.
Entry Requirements
Applicants who hold a minimum of a Bachelor Honours degree (NFQ Level 8) (or equivalent) with a minimum of a First-Class Honours (1H) in Pure Mathematics. Applicants who hold a minimum of a Second-Class Honours, Grade 1 (2:1) may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
