Overview

Choose this degree if you want to learn how to work with a wide range of both established and emerging marketing tools and channels, including:

  • digital and social media marketing
  • influencer marketing
  • the evolving roles of AI and metaverse applications in modern marketing

You will develop core marketing skills, and a thorough understanding of how the marketing function fits into a wider organisational context.

The optional work placement/study abroad will enable you to apply theory in practice, significantly improving employability upon graduation.

This degree also helps you to

  • understand where, when, and how to spend marketing budget to greatest effect
  • plan market research
  • develop strategic marketing plans
  • create persuasive communications, while considering the needs of a multicultural, international business environment
  • understand how marketing interacts with the operations and strategy of a firm as a wholey

You will learn from local and international experts who bring extensive experience and profound insights into the practicality and complexity of the Marketing subject in areas such as:

  • online retailing
  • digital marketing

Course structure

Duration: 3 years (BBS) or 4 years (BBA)

First year

  • Core marketing topics along with a range of introductory Business modules

Second year

  • Master the management functions of Marketing through a range of modules
  • Optional 10 credit Elective
  • Some students may choose to complete a work placement or study abroad year between second and final year and graduate after the fourth year. The University will support you in the search for a placement job; however, the process is competitive.

Final year

  • Develop a strategic approach to the marketing function.

Leaving Certificate Applicants

Required to present (as a minimum): 2H5 & 4O6/H7, O6/H7 in Irish, English & O4/H7 Mathematics.
